The Methodology
Yangsheng Cha Dao
Yangsheng means cultivating life. This is the art of doing it with tea.
The Method
Built from lineage.
Kept daily.
Yangsheng Cha Dao is Tiyana Ti's original methodology, built from six years of daily living tea practice in Ubud, Bali. It draws from three roots: Daoist Yangsheng philosophy, the constitutional reading of Yin, Yang, Qi, Blood, and Essence, and the Global Tea Hut living tea tradition. The result is a method: learnable, teachable, precise about which leaf meets which body.
Tea, here, means one thing: Camellia sinensis. The leaf of a single plant, prepared in ways that have been refined across centuries. Ginger, cacao, and every other botanical infusion belong to a different category entirely. That boundary is what makes the practice precise.
Yangsheng is the oldest layer of the Daoist art of living. It means nourishing life: the active, daily tending of vitality, so that what is alive in you stays in motion, the way running water never goes stale. It was named in the Zhuangzi more than two thousand three hundred years ago, centuries before Daoism became a religion. When Yangsheng is brought into relationship with living tea, something specific becomes possible: the body receives nourishment it cannot produce through intention alone. The alchemy is in the leaf.
The adaptation that makes this method distinct is this: it was built for women in tropical climates. Most of what exists in classical tea literature was written by men, in cold climates, for constitutions that do not match the woman who has spent years building in tropical heat, at the pace her work actually demands. Yangsheng Cha Dao was built for that body, and for no other.
The Lineage
Daoist Yangsheng Philosophy
The ancient practice of nourishing life in harmony with natural cycles, seasonal rhythm, and constitutional intelligence. Slowness as precision. The body as teacher.
The Constitutional Tradition
The body as intelligent. Constitution as the map. Yin, Yang, Qi, Blood, Essence as the framework for understanding what depletes and what restores. Signals read as information.
Global Tea Hut Living Tradition
A living lineage of tea practice rooted in presence, service, and the relationship between bowl, leaf, and body. Practised daily, exactly as it was received.
The Principles
What the practice rests on.
Slowness as intelligence
Speed spends the body. The practice requires deceleration as the condition under which the body can actually receive.
The body as teacher
What the body does in the presence of tea is information. Tightness released. Warmth moved. Breath changed. These are signals the tradition has read for centuries. The practice teaches you to read them.
Season and constitution
Not every tea is right for every body at every time of year. The method is built around this. Which tea. How strong. What season. What constitution. Precision is the practice.
Tea as Camellia sinensis only
The one-plant rule is the doctrinal boundary that makes the method precise. Infusions and cacao sit outside it. Clarity on this point is what separates a practice from an aesthetic.
Restoration is cumulative
A retreat refreshes. A daily practice accumulates. The distinction is the entire point. Yangsheng Cha Dao is built to build. What you do every morning for six months changes the constitution. A weekend cannot do this.
The body answers to alchemy
You cannot will your way into Yin restoration. The body responds to what actually meets it. Tea is one of the few things that does.
This is not for everyone
If you want a morning ritual that is fast, photogenic, and requires nothing of your attention, this is not the right practice. There are many of those.
If you are looking for information about tea, this is also not quite it. The offering here is practice.
Yangsheng Cha Dao is for the woman who has the vocabulary. Who has been to the retreats. Who has done the practices correctly and is ready for something that accumulates rather than refreshes. Who will come to the table every morning because she eventually cannot imagine the morning without it.
If that is you, everything here was built for you.

The garments were designed for this practice: ritual equipment for the women who sit here, cut for the table rather than the wardrobe.
